Hailed as ‘Europe’s most original Christmas market’ by British tour operators, the Christmas Market stretches over two kilometres. It includes stalls, chalets, attractions, activities and terraces. People come to enjoy the food and drink, stock up on delicacies for the holiday period or gifts for loved ones, or to buy a souvenir of this excellent event.
A lot of fun for the kids : with a Big Wheel, toboggan, a beautiful baroque carousel, on the Place Saint-Catherine and Marché aux Poissons, 1000 Brussels

Why not try a Turkish restaurant tonight? I can recommend Turquoise, on Leuven’s ring. A nice restaurant where children are welcome. If you like vegetables and want to discover an explosion of flavours: try the “mezze”. The host is very helpful in explaining what it is that you are going to find on your plate!
Closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.

You don’t have to be a mad scientist to enjoy a visit to Technopolis. You and your children will learn about physical, chemical and biological laws through a lot of very entertaining experiments. Children between 5 and 12 years-old will love it. And even parents will leave the place a bit smarter than when they arrived. If you can, avoid to go there on a rainy Sunday afternoon: it might be very crowded.

If you ever want to feel like you are in New York, head straight to Café de La Presse on Avenue Louise in Brussels. Enjoy their breakfast, lunch or just a cup of tea & brownie . A very busy, yet relaxed and healthy fast food place where suited bankers queue along geeks and trendy students for the soup of the day and freshly squeezed juice. Just for the atmosphere alone it is worth visiting the place. I’ve heard though that it gets very busy for Sunday lunchtime.
Café de la Presse, every day from 7:30 to 19:00, avenue Louise, 493 – 1050 Brussels
If you like stylism and design, don’t miss the Parcours modo. In the area of rue Dansaert (near the Bourse), designers welcome you in their shops and show you their best clothes. A perfect tip for the real fashionistas but also for curious tourists.
Brussels, area Dansaert- Oct 28-30, 2011
The Veluwe region and Postbank area in The Netherlands, two hours from Brussels (200 km), is an ideal family trip for a couple of days. You can enjoy the beautiful nature that surrounds the area as a flying Dutchman by bike.
In the Park “De Hoge Veluwe” you can enjoy the nature and the animals avoiding the visit to the zoo (which I personally hate;-). A great way to visit the park is to use one of the 1700 white bikes available at the different entrances. You cross different landscapes as woods and dunes and you can at any moment find yourself face-to-face to wild animals like deer or boar. (But we didn’t see any).
In the middle of the park is the Kroller Muller museum with its amazing painting collection. You don’t need to be an art expert to enjoy paintings of van Gogh, Picasso, Mondriaan, etc. The Kroller Muller is also famous for its sculpture garden (the largest such garden in Europe, according to them). With some famous sculptors like Rodin, Henry Moore, Jean Dubuffet, etc. Really nice.
The area contains also a zoo (Burgers zoo only for Burger body people) and some picturesque towns as Zutphen and Doesburg.

The trendy brasserie in Brussels “par excellence”. Nice food, busy atmosphere inside or on the terrace, affordable. And above all, the kitchen is open until 23:00 or 23:30 on Fridays and Saturdays. With a little luck, you will see a celeb. True, a Belgian one.
Plasch Brugmann, Place Brugmann 35 – 1050 Ixelles
At 15 minutes from Brussels, Solvay Park is a must for nature-lovers . Take a walk in the beautiful gardens with lakes, very old trees, woods and lots of open space. In the middle, the nice Chateau de la Hulpe (1848) reminds (a little bit) of the Chateaux de la Loire in France.
The castle is not open for the public but it is possible to rent it for professional or family events.
Autumn is a very good moment to visit the park. Choose a freezing sunny Sunday morning to discover it under a beautiful layer of ice. Paths are accessible with a bike or a child stroller. It is possible to have a coffee or a snack in la Ferme du Château. This nice building also houses the Foundation Folon, a poetic Belgian Painter and sculptor (http://www.fondationfolon.be/ ).
Chaussée de Bruxelles, 111, 1310 La Hulpe – Free entrance – Free parking.
